Additional Information

The Black bear is North America's smallest and most common species of bear.. Black bears are omnivores, with their diets varying greatly depending on season and location. Black bears typically live in largely forested areas, but do leave forests in search of food. Sometimes they become attracted to human communities because of the immediate availability of food.  Charles did the originals in pencil for this series. They were printed in black and white on 11 X 14 art paper in a limited edition of 750.

About the Artist - Charles Beckendorf

Charles grew up in Mathis, Texas, where he had the opportunity to spend hours on large ranches. Generous land owners gave him permission to wander freely over their ranches and he observed creatures in their natural surroundings. He developed a lifelong love of nature, whether it be in the tiniest of flowers or the largest of animals. It was at this time that he became a true naturalist.
