"In the glow of dawn on Interstate 10 just east of El Paso, two coyotes make one last search before returning to their den. Perhaps they are watching a car or truck that has stopped on the interstate, but they will also be looking for any animas that may have been struck by vehicles during the night.  The indians said the coyote will be the last animal left on earth, and Texas farmers and ranchers believe it. What made you all come to Fredericksburg and what were the early days like?My mom’s mother was ill and she wanted to keep a closer eye on her. We moved to Fredericksburg in 1965 - 14 miles North of town, out in the country and our nearest neighbor was about a mile away, so moving from Houston was quite the culture shock. One of the things that shocked me was that half of the students at school came to school barefoot. What made you all come to Fredericksburg and what were the early days like?We had family here. My grandfather on my mothers side was a rancher and my grandparents ranch thirteen miles north of Fredericksburg was beautiful.my mother grew up in this community. My dad grew up in Mathis Texas and the Hill country  was a better fit for his art. Fredericksburg was a small, friendly community.
